D-GATE is an interactive light installation.
The door, a symbol of passage between two worlds here becomes the access to a refuge in the desert, a place that, although inhospitable and hostile to life, becomes an oasis of salvation, where human beings find protection and refuge.
The installation consists of 16 RGB LED bars and a speaker, which react to human presence and environmental temperature.
Using a proximity sensor, the installation detects presence inside the portal, while a temperature sensor collects data about thermal changes in the surrounding environment, particularly those that characterize the extreme temperature contrast between day and night in the desert.
The audience becomes an integral part of the work: as they pass through the portal, interaction with the sensors generates visual and sound transformations.
The LED bars begin to emit dynamic color hues in response to the visitor's movement, while the sound carpet changes and the case of each bar alters its properties.
Each action of the viewer directly affects the evolution of the installation, merging the environment and the individual into a single stream of change.
