[Testo disponibile solo in inglese] WHEN WAR WILL END? is a live audiovisual performance developed from Carbon Art Residency’s long-term work with Ukrainian media artists and the project WHEN WAR WILL END?, initiated in 2022.
The performance brings together documentary video, fragments of artists’ works, field recordings, voices and electronic sound. Rather than illustrating the war directly, it looks at how prolonged violence changes the way we perceive time, memory, place and the future. Images appear, break apart, overlap and disappear, creating a fragmented audiovisual space where personal experience meets collective memory.
The live format allows the material to be continuously transformed in front of the audience. Video and sound are treated not as fixed documentation, but as elements of an evolving composition. The performance moves from the immediacy of lived experience towards a more uncertain question: what kind of images, memories and realities will remain when the war is no longer the present?
The work is rooted in the Ukrainian media art context, but its central question is deliberately open. It concerns not only a particular war, but the difficulty of imagining a future while living inside an unresolved present.
