For the current prototype, no recordings from local inhabitants were available yet. To test the transition from archive to voice, I temporarily used a short Italian spoken excerpt from an official LPM reel as a placeholder sound source.
https://vimeo.com/158683436This excerpt is not intended as the final soundtrack. The aim is to replace or enrich it with voices connected to the area and to LPM: short testimonies, words, memories, existing recordings, portraits of inhabitants, or contributions from participating artists.
The voice is treated as visual and sonic material. Its frequencies, rhythm and texture can generate granular movements — sand-like particles, point clouds, words and eventually faces emerging from the sound itself. The reference is close to Peter Saville’s visual language around Joy Division: sound is not simply illustrated, but translated into a physical trace. Here, that trace becomes granular, hence the analogy with sand:
